Stormblood is the second expansion of Final Fantasy XI. This time, we explore new locations both near and far, and dive deeper than we ever have before.
Final Fantasy XIV is VERY story oriented, not only in its Main Scenario Quests (abbreviated as MSQ) but it has tons of side quests and other content that helps flesh out the world you're playing in. Capturing EVERYTHING is beyond the scope of this project, but I hope to at least conceptualize the MSQ, so that both non-players and players looking to refresh their memories can understand the story.
The Garlean Empire - Garleans are a race of people who mostly look like Hyurs except they have a third eye, in the middle of their forehead. The Garleans cannot use magic, and thus have turned to magitek (machines). As of the start of Stormblood, the Garlean empire has subjugated both Ala Mihgo and Doma, who are now under the Empire's rule. Doma attempted a rebellion around the time of A Realm Reborn, but the rebellion failed and Doma was pretty much wiped off the map.
The Skulls - A small group of Ala Mhigans who fight for the Garlean Empire. Led by Fordola.
The Confederacy - A group that controls the Ruby Sea. They require tithes to cross the sea by ship.
Doma Liberation Front - An organization that is intent on regaining freedom for Doma.
Au Ru - A race of people that have scaly horns and tails. They are divided into two: the Raen, children of the Dawn Father, and the Xaela, the children of the Dusk Mother.
Nadaam - A battle between all the Au Ra tribes on the Steppe to determine which tribe will by the leader.
The Anaata - A society of people who have snake tails on their lower body instead of legs. Like most societies in the world, there are friendly factions and not-so-friendly factions.
Gyr Abania - a region formerly controlled by the city-state of Ala Mhigo. It is a dusty, rocky region that includes some mountains.
Ala Mhigo - a city-state. Formerly free, now controlled by the Garlean Empire.
Doma - a city-state that's not controlled by the Garlean Empire. Doma attempted to rebel and regain freedom, but failed in the attempt and was pretty much razed to the ground.
The Azim Steppe - a grassy region in Othard. Home to many tribes of Au Ra, each with their own customs. The major settlement there is the town of Reunion.
Kugane - a city in Hingashi. It is a bustling city that has evaded the Garlean Empire's control.
Isari - a small fishing village situated on the eastern coastline of Othard.
Namai - a small village in Yanxia--the same region as Doma.
The Lochs - Home to the Ala Mhigan Quarter, the former seat of Ala Mhigo's rulers. Also home to Porta Praetoria, which used to be a checkpoint on the way to Ala Mhigo but is now used for military purposes.
Lyse Hext - The true name of the Scion formerly known as Yda. Lyse took the name of her older sister and pretended to be an Archon for much of the story up to this point. She removed her mask and retook her real name at the start of Stormblood. She is from Ala Mhigo, and is determined to see her homeland free again.
Conrad Kemp - Commander of the Ala Mhigan resistance in Rhalgr's Reach.
M'Naago - A Mi'qote and member of the M tribe. She fights for the resistance.
Raubahn Aldynn - Formerly a member of the Syndicate of Ul'dah, and General of the Flames, the Ul'dahan Grand Company. Raubahn is from Ala Mhigo and is now working to regain its freedom.
Pipin Tarupin - a Lalafell and member of the Flames. Raubahn's adopted son. He is now working with his father to free Ala Mhigo.
Arenvald Lentius - a member of the Scions of the Seventh Dawn who was born in occupied Ala Mhigo.
Zenos yae Galvus - the imperial viceroy of the Garlean Empire who enjoys the thrill of battle.
Grynewaht - a Roegadyn who now serves the Garlean Empire, and a nuisance to the party on several occassions.
Hancock - A member of the East Aldenard Trading Company.
Gosetsu - A Roegadyn who has long served Doma and her sovereign.
Yotsuyu - A Hyur who is the current viceroy of Doma.
Yugiri Mistwalker - An Au Ra ninja. She escaped from Doma when it was razed, but now returns to her homeland.
Lord Hien Rijin - a Hyur samurai. Heir to the throne in Doma.
Soroban - a friendly Kojin who becomes an ally to the Warrior of Light and their friends.
Cirina - a Xaela who is a member of the Mol tribe.
Magnai - leader of the Oronir tribe in the Azim Steppe.
Fordola - a Hyur from Ala Mhigo. Leader of the Skulls, a group working for the Garlean Empire.
Mol - a very small tribe of Xaela on the Azim Steppe. They are herders by nature, and considered one of the weakest tribes. Because of their small numbers, they usually don't take part in the Nadaam.
Oronir - a fierce tribe who are often winners of the Nadaam and thus leaders of the Xaela who inhabit the Azim Steppe.
Undying Ones - a tribe of Xaela who believe in reincarnation. Babies are often named after a former tribe member who the tribe believes has now been reincarnated into a new life.
